Formula used

Estimated BAC = alcohol grams / (body weight × distribution factor) - elimination rate × elapsed time

The engine first calculates grams of pure alcohol: volume in ml × alcohol strength × 0.8 ÷ 100. It then applies a Widmark-type approach: total alcohol ÷ (body weight × distribution coefficient), with 0.68 for the male profile and 0.55 for the female profile. The result is adjusted for meal and drinking pace, then reduced with an indicative elimination rate of 0.12 g/L per hour.

Situation

Example matching the default settings: male, 80 kg, 5 glasses of wine, 12.5 cl each at 12%, full meal, consumed over 2 hours. Each glass contains about 12 g of alcohol, or 60 g total. After adjustments and 2 hours of elimination, the displayed estimate is close to 0.73 g/L.

Interpretation

The result is a theoretical blood estimate with substantial uncertainty. As the value rises, alertness, reflexes and judgment are more likely to be impaired. A low value never guarantees fitness to drive or perform risky activity.
